Father's Day Gift Guide for Dads that Travel

In today’s post we’re going to take a loot at the best Father’s Day travel gifts.

Father’s Day is upon us, and that means it’s time to get dad some presents.

You know, I feel bad for dad’s around this time. Most years, they just get socks or ties or something else not very exciting.

This year do something different. So many dad’s travel, whether for work or personal enjoyment.

This makes a great opportunity to get them a present they will use and enjoy!

Here are my recommended Father’s Day travel gifts!

Father’s Day Travel Gifts Guide

Travel Packing Necessities

Fathers need a place to put all their stuff when they’re traveling.

I’m here to help you make their travel life easier.

Here are my recommendations for all things that have to do with travel packing.

Osprey Daylite Daypack

I love the Daylite Daypack from Osprey.

It’s lightweight and durable and perfect to bring on any trip. I use my daypack as my personal carry-on bag.

It will hold my laptop, iPad, some snacks and a few other things I might need in-flight.

It’s also great for taking out on the town when you’re exploring.

Osprey is an amazing company that gives a lifetime warrantee on their products, too. I lost one of the lumbar straps on my Farpoint 40 and they sent a free replacement set with no questions asked.

Opsrey has earned my business for life.

Canvas Messenger Bag

Messenger bags are getting more and more popular. They are versatile and can be stylish at the same time.

Some may call them a murse, others a cross-body bag.

Whatever you call them, they provide dads with a nice way to tote around everything they need for the day.

My friend’s dad uses this canvas messenger bag every day and absolutely loves it.

Alpha Keeper RFID Money Belt

After telling my family about getting pickpocketed in Madrid, my uncle made sure to put all his valuables in a money belt and wear it every day during his 2-week tour of the UK.

I own the Alpha Keeper Money Belt and wish I listened to my own advice and worn it during my trip.

This money belt is ridiculously lightweight and doesn’t have any metal, so you can wear it through metal detectors at the airport.

It’s so comfortable and lightweight you don’t even notice you’re wearing it!

Osprey UltraLight Zip Organizer

I have the Osprey UltraLight Zip Organizer and love it so much that my parents purchased it, too.

This takes the place of a toiletry bag and will take up ¼ the space in your bag or suitcase.

It lives up to the name of being ultralightweight and has a nifty hook for hanging up in the bathroom.

Fathers will definitely love this organizer for their toiletries.

Compression Packing Cubes

Packing cubes are a game changer when it comes to packing.

They make it so easy to organize your suitcase or bag and cut down the space taken up big time.

These compression packing cubes take it up another notch and minify the space your clothes take up even more.

I own these packing cubes and they are fantastic. No one should travel without them.

Digital Luggage Scale

It always happens when you go on a trip. You cram so much stuff in your bag, you no longer know how much it weighs.

Once you get to the check in counter and they weigh your bag, it’s overweight. Then you’re stuck pulling stuff out of one bag and putting it into another.

Take the guesswork out of packing.

Get a digital luggage scale and know exactly where you stand with bag weight.

Luggage scales are lightweight and don’t take up much room and can save you time and money during your trip.

Travel Clothing

Help dad travel with comfort and style this year.

Check out these awesome Father’s Day travel gifts!

Bleu Nero Scarf

If you travel anywhere the weather might get cold, you need a scarf (like summers in San Francisco).

They can be life savers as well as adding a little style to your appearance.

I purchased this Bleu Nero Scarf before my trip to Europe in late-Spring and I used it more than anything else I brought.

The scarfs are made of soft and durable faux cashmere and are super comfortable. They also come in several different styles.

Compression Socks

Okay, okay, I know I made fun of socks as a gift earlier.

However, if you’re going to get your dad some socks, get a pair of compression socks. For flights over 6 hours, these are great.

I use them on all my long-haul flights, leaving me with no discomfort or swelling in my legs.

The Best Headphones for Travel

Dad’s need to tune out the world sometimes.

What better way than with these awesome headphones and earbuds!

Here are my top headphones recommendations for Father’s Day!

Bose Quiet Comfort 35 Headphones

The Bose Quiet Comfort 35 Headphones are the best headphones I’ve ever used.

The sound is incredible and the noise canceling ability hasn’t been topped in any other headphones I’ve used.

On flights I can’t hear the plane or people talking around me, leading to an enjoyable trip.

The QC 35’s are super soft and comfortable, and the battery lasts up to 20 hours.

Do not let dad go on a flight without them!

Apple AirPods

If your dad has an iPhone, he needs to have the Apple AirPods.

For a long time I was skeptical about them. However, after asking a hundred people about them and their experiences, I finally pulled the trigger.

I’m so glad I did!

They sound great, fit nicely and securely in your ears and there are no wires to worry about.

The battery lasts around 5 hours for listening, then you pop them in the case for a quick 15-minute charge before you get another 5 hours.

In total you can get up to 24 hours of listening time before the case needs to be recharged.

They’re perfect for walking around cities, the airport or hitting the gym.

SoundPEATS Magnetic Wireless Earbuds

Before I purchased my AirPods, the SoundPEATS Magnetic Wireless Earbuds were my go-to everyday listening device.

They fit snugly in your ear and last up to 8 hours. I really liked the magnetic connection, so they stayed around my neck easily.

The sound and call quality are really good for the price, too.

These are great for walking around the city, airport or for use at the gym.

The other benefit is they are super affordable. These earbuds provide great value for money.

The Perfect Speakers for Travel

For the dad’s that like to rock out.

Bringing a speaker on your travels is an absolute necessity, especially if you’re going to be in the outdoors!

Here are my Father’s Day gift recommendations for speakers.

The Bose Soundlink Mini is my favorite portable speaker.

The sound you get out of this small speaker is incredible, as is the up to 10 hours of play time you get on a single charge.

My dad absolutely loves his Soundlink mini and uses it in the house, in the yard and on the go.

This is the best portable speaker I’ve listened to.

JBL Clip 2 Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker

The JBL Clip 2 is an awesome little speaker and is made for the outdoors.

It clips on to any bag easily, is waterproof and produces really good sound.

If your dad loves the outdoors, he’ll love to have this little speaker to be included in his gear.

This is definitely a camping necessity!

Phone Accessories for Travel

Everyone is connected to their phones at all times.

A traveling dad is no exception.

Here are my recommendations for the best phone accessories for Father’s Day travel gifts!

Mous iPhone X/XS Limitless 2.0 Case and Samsung Galaxy S10 Limitless 2.0 Case

The Mous Limitless 2.0 phone cases are my favorite phone cases ever!

They are available for both the Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy in multiple designs.

What first drew me to the Mous Limitless cases was a YouTube video that showed a user trying everything he could to destroy the case and bust the phone.

He had people throwing it as hard as they could into a wall, dropping it from 15 feet and chucking it as high into the air as he could.

All of this was way more attempted damage to a phone than would take place with normal use.

The results after all that?

Hardly any damage (and that damage only came with repeated hard throws directly into the ground). It was pretty incredible.

Add to it that the case is magnetic and allows for wireless charging and I was sold.

These are the best phone cases, hands down!

Dashboard Magnetic Car Mount

Resting your phone in a cup holder or under the console is so 2000.

When basically everyone in the world uses a maps app like Google Maps or Waze, you need to have that phone easily accessible and clearly visible.

dashboard magnetic car mount is an absolute necessity these days, and this one works great.

In fact, I purchased this exact set for my parents, and they love them!

Help your dad drive safer and pick him up a magnetic car mount as a Father’s Day present!

Photography and Video Travel Accessories

We all want to capture the perfect moments of our lives.

Dad’s love taking pictures and videos of their family and travels.

Here are my top recommended photography and video accessories for Father’s Day travel presents!

HP Sprocket Portable Photo Printer

The HP Sprocket portable photo printer is totally awesome!

It’s roughly the size of your cell phone (twice as thick though) and prints great looking photos.

In addition to that, it connects via Bluetooth, so all you do is take a picture, open the app and then hit print. That easy.

You get to keep the digital copy and hand out one of the printed pictures to your family and friends.

The photo paper has an adhesive backside (just peel the back paper off) if someone wants to use it like a sticker.

Bring it with you to any family gathering or outing with friends and print out the best pictures taken from that day.

It’s absolutely fantastic and everyone that receives a picture loves it.

DJI Osmo Mobile 2

If your dad is serious about recording video, he needs the DJI Osmo Mobile 2.

It’s a gimble, but with the app, becomes so much more than that. With the Osmo Mobile you can do motion tracking, hyperlapse video, timelapse video and create awesome panorama pictures.

It really enhances your video recording game and is fairly easy to use.

Selfie Stick

Selfie sticks are great for family gatherings and do have a place (at times) when traveling.

I purchased this selfie stick with a remote for my dad last year and he loves it!

The addition of a Bluetooth remote really takes your possibilities up a notch.

The other benefit is the selfie stick has a tripod built in.

This makes setting up for the perfect group photo incredibly easy. Just set it up, get the family together and snap the perfect picture using the remote.

Your dad will love this just like mine!

Portable Power Sources

When traveling you need to be able to power up and recharge all your electronics.

Here are my top Father’s Day travel gift recommendations for charging electronics.

MOGICS Bagel

I’ve tried several international plug adapters and the MOGICS Bagel is far and away the best one.

Most international adapters only allow you to plug in one device at a time, maybe 3 if it has a couple USB ports.

Not the Bagel. It super compact and has 2 USB ports, but it also works as a power strip with 5 plug outlets.

That means you can charge up to 7 devices at once!

I will never travel without it again, and neither should your dad!

Anker PowerCore 10000

I love my Anker PowerCore 20100 for long flights and trips.

It can charge my iPhone XS at least 5 times or my iPad twice on 1 charge.

As great as it is for long flights and trips, it is a little heavy and bulky.

That’s why I highly recommend the Anker PowerCore 10000.

It’s smaller than a cell phone, easily fits in your pocket and will charge your phone at least twice on 1 charge.

The charger also comes with a carrying bag and has enough room to easily store your charging cables.

Super convenient and easy to keep your devices charged up on the go!

This is the perfect portable charger for a traveling dad to have.

eReaders

If your dad loves to read, then he needs to have an eReader.

Here are my top recommended eReader presents for your dad this Father’s Day!

iPad

I’m pretty sure everyone knows about iPads by now, so I don’t have to go into detail about them.

They are the perfect device for traveling, especially on long-haul flights.

Load them up with books, movies and music and you are set for your trip.

Dads can also get some work done on them through the various apps available for install.

Another great feature is the big screen you get to have for video calls and chats.

Kindle

Does your dad like to read a lot? Does he travel a bunch?

Then a Kindle is the perfect gift for him.

Kindle’s are super lightweight and have a battery that seems to last forever. They are easy to read in the sunlight and do not put any strain on you when holding it.

The Amazon library of books is pretty much infinite, too.

The future is here, time for a digital reader for dad this Father’s Day!

Sleep Aids for Traveling

The hardest thing to do when traveling is sleep well.

Everyone struggles with it.

Your dad will be much more comfortable and get more sleep with these helpful sleep aid gift ideas!

EarPeace HD Ear Plugs

Hands down the best ear plugs I’ve ever used.

EarPeace HD Ear Plugs block out snoring, cars, loud people and noise from the television.

They do all this, and they are super comfortable and don’t pop out while you sleep. They also come in a nifty metal carrying cylinder.

Your dad will love to have a pair of these for his travels!

Alaska Bear Sleep Mask

The super soft and comfortable Alaska Bear Sleep Mask is the last sleep mask your dad will ever need.

I use this for my travels and love how it blocks out all the light and I hardly notice I’m wearing it.

I highly recommend this sleep mask for your dad!

MyPillow Travel Pillow

Let’s face it, most pillows in hotels are crap.

Too firm, too soft, too thick, too thin; they just never seem to feel right.

That discomfort leads to lousy sleep.

The MyPillow Travel Pillow is the perfect present for the traveling dad. It’s small, can fit in any case easily and is very comfortable.

Do not let anyone travel without one!

Outdoors Travel Gifts

Not all travel is planes, trains and automobiles.

Sometimes the trips dads make are to the great outdoors.

Here are my favorite gift ideas for dads that love to travel the outdoors!

Trekking Poles

An awesome addition to any outdoor gear set are trekking poles.

Trekking poles are incredibly helpful for hiking and traversing difficult terrain.

My parents just did a 2-week bus tour in the UK and said that some people used them in the cities and areas with steep hills.

The poles are lightweight, easy to adjust and come with tips for pavement, snow, mud and dirt.

Repel Windproof Travel Umbrella

If your dad will be traveling to a place where it rains a lot, he’s going to need an umbrella.

I have a Repel Windproof Travel Umbrella and absolutely love it.

It’s lightweight and easy to pack or carry. It handles incredibly well in the wind and rain, and I really enjoy the automatic open and close button.

The Repel Travel Umbrella also comes in several cool designs and colors.

This is also a great umbrella for your dad to keep in his car, too.

Portable Hammock

I think this is my favorite item on my Father’s Day gift guide.

This large portable hammock is awesome. Lightweight, easy to pack and take with you and it holds up to 500 pounds.

All you have to do is find a couple trees, tie the straps around them and you’re good to go.

This portable hammock is a great gift for dads that go to the beach or camping.

Magazine Subscriptions

Condé Nast Traveler Magazine Subscription

Looking to inspire your dad for future travels?

Look no further than the Condé Nast Traveler Magazine!

This is a fantastic travel magazine that gives great reviews and suggestions for places to visit, stay and eat.

My family loves this magazine and is the only one we subscribe to.

Right now there is a massive discount and you can get an entire year’s subscription for next to nothing.

You get access to the digital catalogue with your subscription, too. That means you can view all the Condé Nast Traveler Magazines on you iPad so you can read while traveling!

Condé Nast Traveler makes a great Father’s Day present for the dad that travels!

Beverage Travel Accessories

A classic gift for any dad is giving him something to drink out of.

Whether it be a coffee mug, flask, water bottle or tumblers, your dad is going to love one these as a gift for Father’s Day.

Heat Changing Day and Night Earth Map Coffee Mug

This is such a cool coffee mug.

There’s a map of the world on the outside of the mug that changes from night to day when warm liquid is added.

As your dad wakes up with a cup of coffee, so does the world.

Adventure Awaits World Map Mug

If your dad loves traveling the world, he’s going to love the Adventure Awaits coffee mug.

With each sip it inspires you to want to get out there and see more of the world.

AVEX Water Bottle

Having a good refillable water bottle is a necessity for travel.

I have not found a better water bottle than this one from AVEX. It’ll keep your drinks cold for up to 24 hours or hot for up to 12 hours.

My dad loves his and always brings it with him whenever he travels.

Hidden Sunscreen Alcohol Flask and ShampBooze Hidden Flasks

If your dad is going to the beach or on a cruise and needs a way to bring some alcohol on the DL, the Sunscreen Alcohol Flask and ShampBooze Hidden Flasks are the way to go!

I’ve used the sunscreen flasks going to the beach and Disneyland with no problems. For 2 cruises I used the ShampBooze flasks to bring some vodka aboard and had no issues.

They’re made for the summer!

Globe Decanter

Is a globe decanter necessary? No. Is it pretty cool? Absolutely!

Dad’s love them some whiskey, bourbon and scotch.

For a traveling dad, what better way to show it off than a globe decanter with matching world map lowball glasses.

It looks great and it is totally functional, which are 2 great qualities I look for in a Father’s Day gift.

Cord Organizers

With all the devices everyone has now, comes several cords for charging them.

Help your dad be organized for work and traveling with these awesome cord organizers!

Cocoon Grid-IT! Organizer

The Cocoon Grid-IT! Organizer is a must for the dad that travels for work. The elastic straps hold cords, flash drives and chargers in place and make them easily accessible.

I have a larger one for my computer bag, which will also hold my external hard drives. They are incredibly durable and really keep you organized.

This is a great Father’s Day gift for dads that travel a lot for work!

Cord Tacos

Does your dad only have a few cords and cables to keep organized? Cord Tacos are the answer!

These neat little organizers look like a taco and keep individual cords neatly stored when traveling.

Cable Bag

If your traveling dad has a little bit more gear he travels with, then a cable bag is the way to go!

Cable bags offer more space to store your cords and accessories for travel.

Health

Keeping your health up while traveling can be a struggle. It doesn’t have to be as difficult as you might realize though.

Here’s a great health product to keep dads going on their travels!

Mini TENS Machine

Bad backs and sore necks are the worst, especially when traveling. This Mini TENS Machine really helps with sore muscles, backs and necks.

The device is the size of a small iPod and weighs next to nothing. All your dad has to do is stick the pads on the problem areas and run a cycle.

I bring this traveling with me all the time and it totally helps. No more stiff necks and aching backs!

Wallets

Slim Money Clip Wallet with Pop-up Card Case

Every dad needs a wallet. When you travel, you want something slimmer and less inviting to pick pockets.

My friend has a Slim Money Clip Wallet and absolutely loves it.

It has a slim profile, clip for your cash and a slot for your credit cards. When you need a card, just pull the trigger at the bottom and they pop up.

It’s the perfect wallet for traveling dads.

Fossil Leather RFID Blocking Wallet

I absolutely love these Fossil leather wallets!

They are incredibly durable and have a fantastic look.

The Fossil leather wallets have plenty of slots to hold all the necessities, the stitching is great and lasts a long time. In fact, these Fossil leather wallets look better over time as they are used.

These are my favorite leather wallets.
